    Jeffrey R Pope, VMD

    Veterinarian, Practice Owner
    Dr. Pope is a 1992 graduate of the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine.  While a veterinary student, he worked in the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Emergency Clinic as a technician/nurse.  Following graduation, Dr. Pope completed a one year small animal rotating internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada.  Dr. Pope relocated to western Pennsylvania in early 1994 and co-founded Allegheny Veterinary Emergency Associates on Rt. 286 in Plum; he practiced there for seven years.  He opened Companion Animal Medical Center in 2002 which subsequently became Pittsburgh East Animal Hospital.

  • Dawn Dinger, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Dinger hails from Elkhart, Indiana.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Purdue University in 1993 and her Doctor Veterinary Medicine degree in 1997, also from Purdue.  After a year of practicing veterinary medicine in Indiana, she completed a rotating small animal internship at a large specialty hospital in Detroit in 1999.  Dr. Dinger then moved to Pittsburgh and spent 11 years practicing at a 24 hour emergency and speciality hospital and another 2 years a local small animal practice.  She joined Pittsburgh East in July of 2012.

    Dr. Dinger has 4 dogs and 4 cats.  Her professional interests include feline medicine and endocrinology.  When not a work Dr. Dinger enjoys hiking, gardening, home improvement and photography.

  • Rebecca Caldwell, DVM

    Veterinarian 
    Dr. Caldwell is originally from Blair County, PA where her family operates a dairy farm. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Biology from the University of Findlay in 2007 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 2012. After graduation, Dr. Caldwell worked in a small animal practice in Greensburg for 4 years prior to joining us. Her professional interests include preventative dental care and nutrition. Dr. Caldwell is married to an officer in the PA National Guard and has a daughter, Reagan. When not working, Dr. Caldwell enjoys spending time with family and friends; traveling; most outdoor activities and walking her 2 dogs, a Shih Tzu and a Labrador mix.

  • Paula

    Management Staff
    Paula has been with PEAH since 2004.  She has previous experience as a veterinary assistant and office staff  working at a mixed animal practice in Indiana.  Paula fills many roles at PEAH; she is the “go to” staff member when something is needed.  Paula enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, 2 sons, 2 granddaughters and their 3 dogs.  Paula thinks that working with clients is the best part of her job!

  • Kim , LVT

    Technical staff
    Kim is a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) who graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in 1997. After moving back to Pittsburgh with her husband, Kim joined our team in 2005. She enjoys the great variety of cases that come into a veterinary hospital on a daily basis and especially likes radiology, hematology and anesthesia. In her spare time, Kim enjoys working in her garden, biking, hunting and caring for her flock of chickens.

    Technical staff 
    Mary has an Associate's degree in veterinary technology from the Vet Tech Institute. She did her school externship at PEAH and has been a part of our team since 2006. Mary likes the challenges of critical care and working with senior pets. When not at work, Mary enjoys taking long walks and fishing.

  • Mike

    Technical staff
    Mike came to Pittsburgh in 1994 to pursue EMT training.  He transferred his skills into the veterinary field where he worked for several years as a veterinary technician at Allegheny Veterinary Emergency Associates.   He started at PEAH in 2005.  He prefers cats to dogs and has two cats currently.

  • Sondra, CVT

    Technical staff 
    Sondra is Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) who graduated from the Western School of Health and Business Careers in 2006. She worked at several local veterinary specialty hospitals and joined us at PEAH in 2014. Sondra's favorite part of veterinary medicine is anesthesia and taking x-rays. During her free time, Sondra enjoys being outdoors, playing video games and spending time with her 3 Golden Retrievers, 1 cat and 1 husband.

  • Melinda

    Reception staff

    Melinda has been with us since January 2010. She has a bachelors degree in business from Penn State New Kensington and is currently studying radiation technology at CCAC.  Melinda's favorite thing about veterinary medicine is interacting with clients and their pets!  When not at work, Melinda can be found enjoying a wide variety of outdoor activities and hanging out with her dog and four cats.

    Reception staff 
    Taylor was born and raised in Pittsburgh and is a graduate of Plum High School. With 2 years of business education from CCAC under her belt, Taylor decided to switch gears and pursue something she had been passionate about for a long time: helping animals in need. With experience, Taylor hopes to some day be able to work as a technician here at PEAH with the ultimate goal being to one day run her own animal shelter.

  • Sydney

    Technical staff 
    Sydney is a junior at the University of Findlay in Ohio and is double majoring in biology and animal science with the goal being to attend veterinary school one day. Sydney enjoys camping, fishing and laying out by the pool, as well as playing with her 2 dogs (Sammy, a Labrador and Dakota, a Golden Retriever) and her newly adopted kitten, Penelope. She is also an avid coffee aficionado.

    Reception staff - Greensburg 
    Jen has been working in the veterinary field since 2002 when she graduated from Median School as a veterinary assistant.  She worked at several other local practices before joining us at PEAH in 2016.  Jen's busy family includes her husband Aaron, 2 sons (A.J. and Luke), 1 dog (Rigzy the Pug) and 2 cats (Boo Boo and Soda Pop).  In her spare time, Jen enjoys relaxing at her camp.  Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is working with the animals and their families.
